Michael Kors Sofie smartwatch

The Michael Kors Sofie is a Wear OS smartwatch built with female wearers in mind. It has an air of elegance that will add sophistication to any outfit that you choose.

With a fully round watch face that is covered in gemstones, you will be able to tell that it is a Michael Kors design from across the room.

Performance

When it comes to choosing a smartwatch to buy, then the most important thing that you need to consider is performance.

If you buy a smartwatch that performs badly, you will end up frustrated and less likely to use it.

If you get a smartwatch that performs well, then you are more likely to get the most from the smartwatch and come to rely on it for your daily stats and notifications.

Processor

The Michael Kors Access Sofie smartwatch comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 Processor. It’s this processor that makes using the smartwatch a total dream.

You can move through the options with ease and enjoy the wide range of compatible apps that can be used with it.

RAM

This smartwatch comes with 512MB of RAM at your disposal, and it is this that makes it easy to work and gives a seamless experience for any user.

The smartwatch also offers a whopping 4GB of storage, and this means that you will be able to store your music on it to enjoy offline wherever you go in the world.

The large storage capacity really helps to set it apart from other smartwatches as many of us get frustrated when we can’t listen to music in offline mode.

Battery Life

The Michael Kors Sofie Access Sofie Smartwatch houses a 300mAh battery that can be charged wirelessly with the included magnetic charger that comes with it as standard.

The smartwatch is said to last up to a full 24 hours with average use, and this means you can charge it when you least need it rather than missing out on the sleep tracking features it offers by charging it overnight.

However, it is worth mentioning that the battery life will not last a full 24 hours if you use is constantly or play lots of music on it, reducing it to between 6 -12 hours of use in this case.

Design

No one can argue that this a beautiful smartwatch aimed at those people who want to add a bit of luxury to their smartwatch wearing.

The Michael Kors label doesn’t do the watch any harm at all, and many people have suggested that it is a great design by an experienced design team.

The design is made to be noticed, and it glitters in the light, demanding that people notice it. If you like to change your watch to suit your outfit, then it is easy with this model as the wrist bands can be easily changed to suit your mood.

Display

When it comes to the display of a watch, it is always important to get something that is easy to read without the need to squint as this can be detrimental to your eyesight.

The Michael Kors Sofie watch is a great example of a clear and crisp display coupled with a screen that is the perfect size to see on your wrist.

Display Quality

With a 390 x 390 screen resolution, you can be certain that this smartwatch is always easy to view and engage with.

You can see the quality in how clearly everything is displayed, and the screen copes well with all types of apps.

Watch Screen

The screen is an AMOLED 1.19inch and is incredibly bright to look at, which is perfect when you are outside and want to see your progress over the day. It is even easy to use when it is cloudy, with dim light.

Apps

As this watch is supported by Wear OS, you will need to use android versions of apps on the watch; they are easily downloaded and used, and you can get apps in a wide range of categories.

The apps on your phone that you want on your smartwatch can be easily downloaded from the Google Play Store that is housed on the smartwatch itself.

You simply tap the Play Store icon and then scroll through the apps, adding the ones to your watch that you want.

You can even download standalone apps that don’t require phone app back up, and these can be found with either voice search on your watch or via the keyboard.

When you find the app, you want you just tap on it, and it will download directly to your watch.

User Interface

The Michael Kors Access Sofie Smartwatch tries hard to be easy to use but doesn’t seem to have it perfected.

There is one navigation button, and this does cause issues when you want to move between apps seamlessly as there is no way to add shortcuts, and the button does not rotate like other smartwatches on the market.

The button, when held, opens up Google Assistant for your use, but if you press and release the button, you will gain access to all the currently installed apps as well as the Play Store in case you want to add anything new to your collection.

The ability to use this watch is simple, but this simplicity can cause problems when you are trying to access your content quickly, a point that is worth considering when you are deciding whether to buy the watch or not.

Features

This smartwatch has many great features that will keep you in touch and on track day after day. From fitness to organization and apps to notifications, you won’t go far wrong with one of these on your wrist.

When you get the Sofie, you will find three apps that are personal to this brand:

  • My Looks lets you set the watch face up in a way that suits you the best. You can even personalize the colors of the hands and background, and this means the choices are virtually endless.
  • My Social is the link you need to all your social media accounts. When you are signed in, you can even use your social media photos as watch faces.
  • My Modes gives you the ability to select the watch faces you love the most and plan when you want them to appear on your wrist. You can set them to appear at specific times of each day so that they will suit the activity you are enjoying when you want them to.

Compatibility

The great thing about the Sofie is that it is compatible with both iOS and Android phones, meaning that you won’t need to change your phone when you want to get your hands on this watch.

However, if you are an Apple fan, you will need to prepare yourself for limited accessibility as this smartwatch is not integrated with the App Store.

You can, however, use this watch with Google Assistant, and it comes pre-installed so that you can make the most of it whenever you are online.

With Google Assistant, you can expect to send messages, get the forecast, and many other useful tasks to keep you up to date. It’s simple to access as you just need to press and hold the side button.

Pros and Cons

There are both Pros and Cons to owning this watch, and we have summarized them below for you:

Pros

  • This watch is beautifully designed and looks great on any wrist
  • You can personalize the watch face and change the wrist straps
  • You can add lots of apps from Google Play to suit your lifestyle
  • It successfully tracks your fitness movements all day long
  • There is decent battery life if you aren’t using it constantly through the day
  • Google Assistant is ready and able on your wrist at all times.

Cons

  • No Google Pay means you have to remember your purse all the time
  • No GPS other than a tethered option
  • No Heart-rate monitor to accompany the fitness tracking app

Bottom Line

Put simply this Michael Kors Sofie Smartwatch review would suggest that this smartwatch not only looks the part but acts it too.

There are minor concerns with the navigation and user interface, but nothing that will stop you from enjoying using it on a daily basis.

There is a range of pre-installed apps that will give you the updates that you require in your daily life.

It also comes with the ability to personalize it via the Play Store and by changing the wristbands so that while you may be wearing a Michael Kors watch, it will still allow your personal style to shine through.
